NJRA 2017 Royalty Court
Hi, my name is Abby Jennings and I am 16 years old, I attend W.F. West High School. I have been a part of the association for 1 year. My favorite memory is walking around with my rodeo family with our wigs on. I am excited to start the 2017 season as your NJRA Queen.

I started my riding career jumping in pony club. Since then I have been in pony club, 4-H, WAHSET, and now rodeo. I started out riding a little pony named Cassie I had her for a long time. I decided it was time to move a couple years ago and we bought my horse Zoom. He was too much for me when I first got him. Now we are running great together. I compete in many different events such as barrels, poles, breakaway, and steer daubing. I’ve only started roping and daubing a couple years ago. I have been barrel racing and gaming for quite a few years. Barrel racing is Zoom’s and I favorite event. We have been become very competitive in barrel racing in the last couple years. We have started running fast times and breaking our personal record quite a bit. I spend most of my time with my horses but I also enjoy skiing with my grandma and spending time swimming at the lake with my friends.

In the future I plan on attending Walla Walla Community College and competing on their rodeo team.

I’m looking forward to a great 2017 season with everyone. Good luck to all the cowgirls and cowboys this year!
Hey there, my name is Julia Johnson. I am the daughter of Dusty Johnson and DeeDe Young. I am 17 years old and attend W.F. West High School. I have two brothers and one sister. I enjoy riding horses, playing basketball, spending time with family and camping. My favorite sport, besides rodeo, is basketball and this year I was selected to both the Olympian and Chronicle All-Area Teams. My team worked really hard this year, earning 3rd in State, this was a big accomplishment for me. During the Spring, my family and I enjoy working at the Saddle Mountain Ranch in Othello. One of my most favorite things to do is sort calves for branding and then take the herd back up the mountain to their summer grazing pasture. Last year during Spring Break, we processed 540 cows. We sort the calves and brand, tag, vaccinate and castrate them. It is tough work but very fun!

My horses are a huge part of my life as well. I have three that you may see this year. My barrel horse and main man is Beckum. He is a handsome brown horse. He is pretty plain looking, but makes up for it with his amazing speed and awesome personality. Once you meet him, he’ll be your favorite too. My rope horse is Rico. He is small but mighty. Last year, for my royalty horsemanship pattern, I rode my three year old Marvin. He is a gray QH and very athletic. You may see him this year at one of the rodeos.

Before joining the NJRA, I participated in 4-H and I still thoroughly enjoy mentoring the younger members. 4-H taught me many things and I have made many great and lasting friendships because of it. It also brought wonderful leaders into my life that have really encouraged me to pursue my goals. I also participate on my school’s WAHSET team. It is really fun getting to know girls at my school who I wouldn’t normally get the opportunity to hang out with. I love watching our drill team and cheering for them.

In school, my favorite class has been Sports Medicine. When I graduate, I would like to attend Central Washington University and student Elementary Education. Then I can have summers off to rodeo!

I am really looking forward to this rodeo season and meeting many new friends. Good luck to everyone this year.
